Special Council Meeting, August 27, 2021, Actions Taken.

The following actions were taken at the Monessen City Council Special Meeting on August 27, 2021.

The meeting was called to order at 4 pm.

Roll call was given. Councilmen Gregor and Coles, Mayor Shorraw, City Administrator Harhai, and City Clerk Gordon were present in person. Solicitor Witt, Councilman Orzechowski, and Councilwoman Thomas were present via phone.

Pledge to the flag.

The floor was opened to Public Comments on Agenda Items.

The (Special Meeting) was advertised in the Mon Valley Independent newspaper on Thursday, August 26, 2021, for a special meeting on August 27 at 4:00 pm.

A Motion to adopt Resolution №23 of 2021, a resolution of the City of Monessen, Westmoreland County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, declaring that the current Monessen City Hall Building at 557 Donner Avenue may be unfit and unsafe for City Employees and Members of the public in the long term due to mold and inadequate accessibility; and to approve relocating Monessen City Hall to 575 Donner Avenue. (Vote Approved: 4–1)

A Motion to approve the first reading of Ordinance №1248, an Ordinance of the City of Monessen, Westmoreland County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, directing the City Treasurer to no longer accept partial payments for property taxes, garbage fees, and any other miscellaneous payments owed to the City, due to requirements under Pennsylvania local Tax Collection Law being unmet, and due to recommendations from the City Auditors; and providing for an effective date. (Vote Approved 5–0)

The meeting was Adjourned at 4:35 pm.
